The Cub Scout section is as strong as ever in the group and with a constant inflow from the two Beaver Colonies there is always a waiting list. The Cub Scout Paack meets on a Wednesday evening from 6.30pm - 8.00pm and is for boys and girls aged 8 to 10.5 years old. The section is very busy and the noise on meeting nights can only be young cubs having a great time.

NEWS UPDATE - A second Cub Scout Pack is opening on 26th February 2010

1st Abbots Langley Cubs - Summer 2009

Get Involved - Help Please
Please do join in and assist at one evening this term for the safe and smooth running of these events. Kindly advise by returning the separate sheet ASAP, which Meetings you will be able to assist. You will only be required to help at one meeting. There will also be a rota sheet in the entrance hall during drop-off and pick-up on the first two meetings, or simply email one of us. Many thanks for your support for the benefit of all our children.
Fitness Challenge
Cub Scouts should complete all of the following:
1. Show how they have done their best in a sport or activity over a two-week period. This can be something new or a sport/activity they currently take part in.
2. Show how they have improved their physical fitness over a two-week period. This might include examining what they eat and improving their diet, how much exercise they take, how much sleep they get and explain how they might continue to improve their fitness in the future.
3. Try two new sports or physical activities at least once, for example, tennis, dance, basketball or Tai Chi.
Outdoor Challenge
Cub Scouts should complete all of the following:
1. Take part in at least one residential experience (preferably camping) with a minimum of two nights away. The two nights do not need to be consecutive.
2. Explain to other Cub Scouts what activity they enjoyed most whilst on the residential experience and what activity they found hardest. This could be in the form of a poster, story, photographs or similar.
3. Learn two new skills and use them, for example: tracking, fire lighting or some basic knots.
4. Take part in three new outdoor activities that you have not done before, for example, shelter building, pioneering, archery, skiing, abseiling, a wide game or kite flying

Parking/Lifts
" Please avoid parking/dropping off in the area immediately in front of the scout hut. We are often heavy laden when we arrive at cubs and it would be helpful to be able to park directly in front of the hut. Thank you.
" Also, may we request that Cubs arrive just a few minutes before 6:30pm and not any earlier. We quite often need time to set up but get distracted if we have Cubs to keep an eye on!
" Many activities are not at HQ this term - if anyone needs lift to any non-HQ meetings please let us know as we quite often have spare seats available.
E-mail
To cut down on paperwork, we would like to send information by email. If you regularly use e-mail, and have not already advised us, would you please let us know your email address by sending this to fraser@vidyo.com,hollynoonan@hotmail.co.uk, chris850t5@hotmail.com. Don't forget to check your email regularly!! Thanks
Challenges
