The Scout section is the core section of the group, giving the Scouts training and experience's that are often not available in the world of the young person. There is a strong leadership team giving direction to the Scouts who compete at many events and get away to various parts of the country on their expeditions. The Scout Troop is for boys and girls aged 10.5 to 14 years old and meets on a Thursday. Follow the links for information about the troop activities.

1. The prize for the ‘Top Ten Scouts of the Year’ Competition is a narrowboat weekend on 6th – 8th May 2011. We are trying a new narrowboat this year. Last years competition proved to be very close and only one point separated some of the winners from the rest.

2. The 2011 Summer Camp will be to Tansley Wood, Matlock in the Peak District from Sunday 24th July to Sunday 31st July. A deposit of £70 is required by 24th February at the very latest. The overall cost of the camp will be £190. The 2nd instalment of £60 is payable on 5th May and the final balance of £60 is payable on 23rd June.

3. The highest award achievable in the Scout Troop is the Gold Chief Scouts Award. The Scouts must complete 8 Challenges to attain this with each Challenge made up of a number of parts. The majority is completed as part of the weekly programme and on our summer camp. A few can only be done by follow up work at home. Unfortunately, there are still a number of Fire Service Reports outstanding from our visit on 16th September. This means that they cannot attain their Gold Award. We would appreciate it if parents could ensure that this work is completed ASAP.
