The scout section is the core section of the group, giving the scouts training and experience's that are often not available in the world of the young person. There is a strong leadership team giving direction to the scouts who compete at many events and get away to various parts of the country on their expeditions. (Minibus) District Night Owls Competition. Event involving orienteering at night between bases and carrying out team activities. From 2pm Saturday 25th to Noon Sunday 26th. Cost of £10 per Scout.

No SD Investitures and Outdoor Cooking. Full Uniform. Meet at Lees Wood. Invest new Scouts (Please obtain full uniform) followed by cooking on open fires. Please bring an old teeshirt for cooking in.
10th - 12th July
   Group Centenary & Herts 100 Camp at Tolmers Campsite, Cuffley.
16th July
 No Flag Break No SD Athletes Badge & Camp Meeting. No Uniform. Complete Athletes Activity Badge in the park. Parents of summer camp attendees attend meeting at HQ to discuss activities, kit list, etc.
23rd July
   (Minibus)
No Flag Break Camp Preparation. No Uniform. Meeting for Summer Camp attendees only. Please bring kit packed and ready for camp. A kit inspection will be carried out. Load minibus and trailers with camp equipment and canoes.
26th July
   (Minibus) Summer Camp to Ystradgynlais, Brecon Beacons, South Wales.
Scout meetings suspended for Summer holiday until 10h September.
A programme will be circulated prior to this date.
1. Subs of £37 per scout for the Summer Term are now due. Please make your cheques payable to 1st Abbots Langley Scout Troop.

2. This term marks the start of the 2009/10 Scout of the Year competition. The prize for the top ten Scouts of the Year will be a narrowboat weekend in 2010. This years competition proved to be very close and only a point separated some of the winners from the rest. Remember points can be earned through showing commitment to the troop activities and fundraising, and through good behaviour. Points are lost for bad behaviour.
